Fire Marshal (Including Practical Use of Extinguisher) Course
This Fire Marshal Training Course is designed to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to take on the role of a Fire Marshal (or Fire Warden) in the workplace. The course covers essential fire safety legislation, responsibilities, fire prevention, emergency procedures, and includes a practical session using fire extinguishers.
It is suitable for anyone appointed as a Fire Marshal or Fire Warden, as well as employees who want to enhance their understanding of fire safety in the workplace.
Course Objectives:
- Understand the legal responsibilities of a Fire Marshal.
- Gain knowledge of fire prevention and the causes of workplace fires.
- Recognize different types of fires and fire extinguishers.
- Learn how to react in the event of a fire and support safe evacuation.
- Develop confidence in using fire extinguishers through practical training.

- The role and responsibilities of the Fire Marshal.
- Overview of fire safety legislation (Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005).
- Common causes of workplace fires and fire prevention techniques.
- Fire risk assessments and control measures.
- Understanding fire behaviour and how it spreads.
- Types of fire extinguishers and their correct use.
- Emergency evacuation procedures and roll calls.
- Liaising with emergency services.
- Practical session: Live demonstration and safe use of fire extinguishers.
Duration:
Approximately 3 hours.
Assessment and Certification:
Delegates will participate in a short assessment to confirm understanding. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon successful completion, valid for 3 years.
